FAST services are rapidly growing in popularity around the world. Paramount’s new global study explored the reasons why viewers are embracing FAST platforms, what makes FAST unique, and how users feel about advertising on FAST services.
Spanning both quantitative and qualitative research, more than 5,000 consumers ages 18-64 were surveyed and interviewed across eight markets, including Brazil, Canada, Germany, Mexico, Spain, Sweden, the UK, and the US.
It turned out that FAST services are growing rapidly for a few key reasons — they’re simple to use and take the stress out of deciding what to watch, they give users a sense of uplift throughout the day, and they provide an opportunity to explore from the comfort of home. Ultimately, they address viewers’ needs in a unique way that complements other services.
Christian will discuss the key findings from this study in this fascinating webinar.
Omdia analyst Max Signorelli explores how consumer demand is impacting advertising opportunities for streamers and how service providers can stay ahead of the game.
In the US, hybrid video propositions are nothing new and have secured their position as a core market offering through the likes of Hulu and, more recently, House Of The Dragon streamer HBO Max. Outside the US, however, the business model will feel relatively new with few parallels in the OTT space.

What has happened in the metaverse over the last year? A lot, it turns out. Since Wunderman Thompson first released their “Into the Metaverse” report in September 2021, excitement around and activity in the metaverse has exploded: collections of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have flooded the marketplace, branded virtual worlds have taken over games, and investment in technologies such as mixed, augmented and virtual realities has ramped up significantly.
But, in the midst of this storm of activity, it can be hard to parse what is a flash in the pan of a passing fad and what has meaningful staying power. This micro-report breaks down how the metaverse is restructuring eight industries, with original data collected by Wunderman Thompson Data, brand case studies, actionable takeaways and category-specific insights to help brands navigate the future of the metaverse.

Until now, speed has been the feature which consumers look for when purchasing home broadband. As access network speeds have increased other aspects of the broadband service have come to the fore, such as Wi-Fi quality, which is now the dominating factor in the consumer broadband experience.
Latency, the time it takes to send and receive data packets, and jitter, the variation in latency, may sound technical but they impact the consumer experience in applications such as online gaming, AR/VR, video calling and even voice quality. That extra delay could make the difference between staying in the game or lying in the dirt.
Service providers have a great opportunity to target gamers and business users with low-latency service tiers, and enhance consumer satisfaction with video conferencing/calling and other delay sensitive applications.
Access networks and the home network are evolving to deliver such low-latency/low-jitter services, and that means delivering low latency all the way to the Wi-Fi connected device. Bringing together technologies such as low-latency DOCSIS and XGS-PON with Wi-Fi 6E (6GHz Wi-Fi), and managing the overall experience.
In this presentation, Ian will discuss the opportunity for low-latency services and the technology to deliver end-to-end. The presentation covers the following topics:
• What is low-latency and jitter?
• What’s the opportunity for service providers?
• Overview of technology solutions including Low-Latency DOCSIS (LLD) and Wi-Fi.

What happens when people can’t talk about TV? In this study, ViacomCBS challenged consumers aged 16-49 in Italy, the UK, USA, Mexico, South Africa, Indonesia and Australia to go about their lives for two weeks without engaging in any conversations about TV in any of its forms (including streaming).
What became clear was the extent to which television is embedded in daily life and delivers value beyond mere entertainment. Talking about TV takes the rewards of watching TV, enhances them, and elevates these benefits to a new level – leaving people feeling more joyful, expansive, grounded, and connected. As the appetite for content grows, this is a timely look at the very human dynamics that help to inform the future health of the television industry.

The impact of COVID-19 has proved extremely challenging for businesses, but the economic effect of the pandemic could have been much greater if it hadn’t been for Video Conferencing technology. Uptake of Video Conferencing reached unprecedented levels within months of the pandemic taking hold and immediately changed our working practices and culture. As businesses look to a post-pandemic world, questions are being asked around whether these changes will be permanent and how this will impact the office and meeting room of the future.
Futuresource Consulting has spent the past 18 months profiling the video conferencing industry and the reaction to the pandemic in terms of technology adoption and cultural change. Futuresource’s reports cover both market sizing and end user research and examine the impact on traditional office spaces and meeting rooms as well as the burgeoning home working market.
This session will provide key findings from Futuresource’s research and their context in the wider industry.

Wi-Fi is undergoing unprecedented levels of change, with three of the most significant changes in the history of Wi-Fi coming in quick succession: Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7. With their rapid introduction there is potential for confusion, so how can the Consumer Electronics industry effectively market these new technologies and their benefits to consumers? How do Service Providers engage with these new Wi-Fi standards to create new and enhanced services for the home?
In this webinar Charles Cheevers will provide an overview, aimed at marketeers, of these new standards and how they will benefit the connected home with increased speed, capacity and lower latency. It will explore new use cases for Wi-Fi, new applications likely to emerge, the ergonomics of Wi-Fi that are changing how we engage with Wi-Fi devices, and the convergence of Wi-Fi with 5G in the home. Charles will present the opportunity for Service providers and the key decision points, with ideas on how to effectively market these new Wi-Fi opportunities to consumers.
Home. At first glance, it’s four walls and a roof over our heads – where we sleep, wake up, eat and relax. It’s a source of pride and comfort. It’s where we hang our hat.
But when you think about it, home is a lot more than a physical space. To be truly ‘at home’ is a feeling, an emotion – something we can take with us. In fact, there are a whole range of places where people feel at home.
For this project, The Meaning of Home, ViacomCBS spoke to over 11,000 people aged 25 to 64 across 18 countries and investigated what “home” means around the world, how people create a feeling of home, and what the benefits are of that feeling.

The Coronavirus pandemic will be remembered as a world re-ordering event – both for those directly impacted by a personal tragedy and those forced to stay at home for several months on end.
Separated from loved ones, unable to eat out or travel, home-schooling their children, working from home or not able to work at all, people across the world found refuge online, creating virtual solutions to replace everyday interactions. The home has become the school, the office, the yoga studio and the entertainment hub, with broadband becoming the backbone to this new way of living.
As an essential provider of connectivity, Liberty Global played a vital role in alleviating loneliness by keeping people connected, helping businesses run smoothly and enabling key services such as hospitals and supermarkets to operate around the clock in challenging circumstances. Connections were always important, but this global pandemic has shown how they are now more critical than ever.

Join us as we look at what the future might hold for the video aggregators in the world today.
In an increasingly fragmented market with a new competitive landscape, increasing subscriber acquisition costs and challenges getting heard, there is a clear consumer and operator need for simple aggregated solutions.
Multiple stakeholders with different approaches and objectives are playing an aggregator role today and as the relationships between OTT SVOD services and distribution platforms continues to change, what will it mean for all the players?
The large number of video services both from within the traditional TV ecosystem and from the OTT market has all served to hugely increase the volumes of content available and fragment the market further – driving the need for a new aggregation approach.
We take a close look at how Pay TV is Responding.
With SVOD integrations reaching new levels does this suggest that they are best placed to take the role of Super-Aggregator or will other players take this role?

The impact of Streaming and Coronavirus on the film industry.
Carter Pilcher, ShortsTV – In discussion with Lukas Kernell, CTAM Europe Co-Chair & VP Content, Liberty Global
With the impact of a pandemic that has kept us all at home and the meteoric rise of streaming, the media landscape is seeing dramatic shifts in how and where we choose to consume content. Cinemas across the world remain closed for business, leading some industry analysts to question whether the traditional movie-going experience is now a thing of the past. Yet despite these pressures, big streamers like Netflix have invested in the theatrical space.
Carter Pilcher, member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and founder of ShortsTV, discusses the impact of streaming and coronavirus on the film industry, from changes to the 2021 OSCARS® ceremony, to changes to qualification routes to the effect on independent movie theatres as he explores early indicators as to the future of movies on the silver screen—both long and short, with CTAM Europe’s Co-Chair and Liberty Global’s VP Content, Lukas Kernell.

What next for video services?
Consumers have never had so much choice of quality video content and streaming services from new glossy productions and “originals” to studios and broadcasters offering their back-catalogue online and even movies going straight to streaming. As a result, service providers are continuing to feel the effects of cord cutting/shaving as consumers adopt streaming-first for their viewing.
This webinar will look at how service providers are rethinking their video service strategy and the opportunities arising from changing consumer needs, in particular:
– The use of cost-effective streaming devices and engaging user interfaces to enhance broadband services and enable customer engagement.
– The move from content aggregation to service aggregation, with smart assistants and the TV as a canvas for a suite of home services.

INSEAD Masterclass: Noah Askin, Assistant Professor Organisational Behaviour, INSEAD.
From the New York Times to Harvard Business Review, there have been many reminders of the importance of reaching out to your weak ties during the current crisis. These “weak ties” are not your closest friends, but the people you know at arms’ length. Perhaps you used to know them well or know them only through friends. Connecting with them has always required some effort, but chance social encounters made it easier and more common. Certainly those social opportunities are no longer possible (depending on where you live). The question is, how do you network in the current social context?
Noah gives some basic tips, but also a call to flip networking on its head: changing the perspective of networking from outreach to making yourself more open and available to others.

Since the turn of the twenty-first century, digital has fundamentally changed our lives. Adapting to the ongoing digitisation of the economy, and of society in general, is arguably the most challenging transformation every business is currently facing. But that doesn’t mean that traditional approaches do not apply anymore or that you must reinvent yourself.
For being successful in a digital world it is crucial to understand your key objectives and to identify the means to achieve them.
Organisations need to mirror digital objectives against their core strength and competencies to identify the most important gaps. Then initiatives are identified and their economic value assessed.
In several studies ‘Optimising the digital Customer Experience’ was ranked recently as the top strategic priority by Senior Executives. Successful companies ask themselves what problems they are trying to solve, what stakeholder needs they wish to fulfill, where they stand today, and how digital trends and technologies can address these problems along the customer journey.
In this webinar Joerg discusses how organisations can create exceptional Customer Experience to set themselves apart from their competition.

Joint Webinar with Bernd Riefler, Founder & CEO, Veed Analytics
13th May 2020
The ties between Premium SVoD services and MVPD platforms are becoming closer, since SVoD services need distribution partners and MVPD platforms need to offer the new consumption model as well. Bernd/Veed Analytics have analysed current approaches from the likes of Netflix, Disney+, Amazon, and also local streaming initiatives. Since the product/device portfolio from MVPD platforms is becoming more fragmented the integration from SVoD services typically differs.
In the webinar Bernd will review the three relevant stages based on examples from the European market:
(1) Service availability: on which devices are the services available and is there any activity from the user required to install an app
(2) Content surfacing: who can users access the content from SVoD services
(3) Commercial bundling: what are typical SVoD bundling approaches.
The presentation is approx 20min followed by a 10min Q&A session

30th October 2019. MIPCOM 2019 Round-up with Guy Bisson.
Ampere Analysis’ Research Director, Guy Bisson gives a roundup of this year’s MIPCOM via a webinar for CTAM Europe members.
There was a buzz at this year’s MIPCOM content market as TV execs pushed on with ‘business (almost) as usual’ in the face of the fast-changing market for international sales.
Independent distributors found their diaries unusually packed, with a number of smaller operations reporting to The Amp that they were fully booked with meetings until Thursday evening. The changing role of studio majors and direct-to-consumer plans were, of course, a hot topic at the market, but there was a feeling of a quiet before the storm as global sales execs talked freely of an expected impact on their lives and businesses that had yet to fully materialize.
Ongoing access to content stands tall as the key concern among distribution businesses, but the already well-underway trend of original production is also having an impact; driving down license fees for smaller distributors (as major buyers prioritize production budgets over acquisition) and making the lives of the distribution execs within larger operations more challenging as they struggle to unravel their parent companies’ own plans for directto-consumer launches and holdbacks, and the content that will be left over for international sales.

The 30 minutes webinar can be viewed by clicking below.
In a nutshell – we will:

- Discuss & put European initiatives like NLZiet, Joyn, Salto, Britbox into perspective

17th January 2018
Deep dive into the following:
Adapting to the ongoing digitization of the economy, and of society in general, is arguably the most challenging transformation every business is currently facing. Digital technologies have become the core of  almost every industry. But one of the most important ‘laws in business’ has not changed at all: Customer centricity and customer orientation. You can only create value and drive profitable growth if you understand not only what customers ‘need’ but also what customers really ‘want’. However, creating customer value and building long-term relationships is even more challenging in a digital world where customers (a) expect more, (b) are well-informed, (c) trust their peers, (d) have more choices and (e) have a voice.
In today’s ‘Age of the Customer’, digital technologies and customer centricity have to go hand-in-hand: new channels & touchpoints, new devices, diverse data, multi-dimensional customers, new competitors, social networks, new ways of interacting with customers and other stakeholders. Today, every business is, in part, a digital business and successful companies embrace and deploy digitization in the right places at the right time and are up to 30% more profitable than digital beginners. That is why digital transformation should be on every senior executive’s agenda.
