AMC launches free SELEKT Light service in Czech Republic and Slovakia

AMC Global Media has launched SELEKT Light in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, replacing its existing AMC Mikro streaming service.

The free service requires registration and brings together selected content from AMC’s channel portfolio, including films, series, children’s programming and live sport.

Viewers can register up to five devices and stream on three simultaneously. At launch, SELEKT Light is available through the web and iOS and Android apps, with a Czech-language interface.

The regularly refreshed catalogue spans action, comedy, drama, crime and westerns, alongside seasonal films and selected episodes of children’s series. Local productions include Come for a Ride with Honza Musil.

AMC said the sports offering will include live content from competitions such as the UEFA Nations League, Europa League, Conference League, Champions Hockey League and PDC European Tour.

Levente B. Málnay, Managing Director and Executive Vice President of AMC Global Media CE, said the launch gives viewers a single destination for a selection of the company’s content and represents another step in SELEKT’s Central European development.

The expansion follows SELEKT’s launch in Hungary in 2024 in partnership with technology provider Applicaster.

SELEKT Light uses Applicaster’s Zapp platform, allowing AMC to adapt its existing technology to local content and distribution requirements as it enters further markets.

Csaba Szaniszló, Vice President of Ad Sales and Digital at AMC Global Media CE, said the ability to extend the same technology across countries while adapting to local needs was central to the company’s regional growth strategy.
