In 2016, CTAM Europe became part of Cable Europe, in 2020 Cable Europe became GIGAEurope.
The two Trade Associations have joined to become one larger entity.
Why GIGAEurope?
GIGAEurope supports a strong and harmonised European Digital Single Market, with a clear focus on enabling regulatory and market conditions that allow for sustainable investment and innovation in gigabit infrastructure and IoT.
GIGAEurope aims to highlight the importance of EU policies, supporting sustainable investment and competition. GIGAEurope believes that European policies should be based on long term objectives, with regulatory intervention where the market fails to provide efficient outcomes.
Working with vertical players and policy makers, GIGAEurope aims to reduce market fragmentation and establish a level playing field across the whole digital ecosystem.
With the connectivity industry having undergone major technical advances, GIGAEurope symbolizes the shift towards gigabit connectivity and the convergence of fixed and mobile networks undertaken by private investors in this sector. It was therefore time for private investors in very high capacity networks to relaunch its collaboration under a strengthened voice. And this voice is GIGAEurope.

Who are Cable Europe?
Cable Europe is the trade association that connects leading broadband cable TV operators and their national trade associations throughout the European Union.
Cable Europe is a not-for-profit, non-commercial professional membership organisation. Cable Europe membership is open to broadband cable TV operators and national cable associations within the European Union.
The associate membership of CTAM Europe and Cable Europe is open to organisations having an activity connected to distribution by Cable, such as content providers.
The European Cable TV industry provides high speed broadband internet, digital TV services, and telephony to more than 76 million customers.
Cable Europe promotes the industry’s policies and business interests at European and international level, and are an engaged member of the technology standardisation community and an active player in the domain of related regulation.
While both the name and organisation have changed with the times, Cable Europe’s members’ service offerings continually evolve even faster given our industry’s tight focus on investment-driven innovation. The association has been active since 1955.
