CTAM Europe to host Cable Marketing Track Session at
ECCA Congress 2005

Educational Sessions Explore Innovative, Customer-Centered marketing

Zürich, Switzerland – 24 November, 2004 – CTAM Europe, the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing, announced that it will host the marketing track session at the 51st edition of the ECCA Congress, scheduled for 21 – 23 March, 2005, in Budapest Hungary. The sessions are focused on exploring successful, customer-centered approaches to the delivery of cable services in a competitive marketplace.

The ECCA Congress is the annual meeting of the European Cable Communications Association (ECCA), which brings together cable operators from across Europe to discuss and learn about key issues. The event comprises a conference, a large exhibition, several workshops and exclusive networking opportunities.

CTAM’s Co-Chairperson, Jude Blake, Chief Marketing Officer and Director of the Consumer Business Unit, for cablecom GmbH in Switzerland noted that, “We’re excited about our participation in the upcoming ECCA Congress, which we feel is an important education and networking event. Our involvement illustrates the importance of the marketing role in an ever-changing and increasingly competitive cable industry. As technology evolves, and consumers become more discerning, effectively communicating and positioning our products and services is critical to cable operators and other industry professionals alike. In fact, we believe this is central to maintaining a competitive advantage.”

Complementing the Congress theme, “Competing for Customers,” the CTAM Europe marketing sessions will focus on how organizations in the cable industry are most effectively competing at both the product and strategic marketing level. Specifically, one session will focus on innovative use of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) as a competitive advantage, while the other will focus on effective market differentiation strategies. Following these sessions, CTAM Europe will host a break-out session on each topic so that attendees can explore in greater depth, the specifics and application of these successful approaches.

CTAM Europe's ECCA Event Chair, Dennis Hodges, Director of Marketing and Sales, UPC Central and Eastern Europe, noted that, “We developed content according to what our members have told us is most relevant to them. Specifically, in feedback from our recent Euro-Summit we heard that there is a desire to learn new ways to truly connect with customers in terms of determining needs as well as the best ways to communicate with them. From the product perspective, we wanted to explore how VoIP is poised to truly change the way our customers think about telephony. From a strategic perspective, we wanted to offer insight on how to differentiate cable products and services in markets where providers must compete with challengers from both within and outside the industry.”

Bernard Cottin, President of ECCA, noted that, “We’ve always been focused on supporting our member’s regulatory and technical needs, but we’ve increasingly seen that exchanges between cable operators in the marketing field are important. We believe that by partnering with CTAM Europe in organizing such a session, ECCA can offer our members the best resources from our two organizations.”
