Stephen White
General Manager, SPTI Networks Central Europe

Stephen White is General Manager of Sony Pictures Television International's (SPTI) high energy, general entertainment channel, AXN, in Central Europe. Based in Budapest, White is responsible for managing AXN's distribution, programming, commercial sales, marketing, and technical operations as well as expanding channel distribution in six core markets: Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria—reaching well over 8 million households in the region.

In 2006, White launched two other AXN branded channels in the region: AXN Crime and AXN Sci-Fi, both of which he continues to oversee. He is also responsible for the newly launched animé channel from SPTI, Animax, which now airs in Hungary, Romania, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

White was previously the C.O.O. of one of Australia's top cable channels, TV1. He was instrumental in transforming the channel into Australia's number one general entertainment channel on the subscription television platforms. He began his business experience with PricewaterhouseCoopers, working on telecommunication issues in both their London and Sydney offices.

At SPTI, White recently introduced the AXN Short Film Festival, aimed at offering viewers in Central Europe the opportunity to showcase their film-making talent. A first in the region, this initiative puts AXN at the forefront of supporting the developers of user-generated content.

White has an MBA from AGSM, the top Australian business school. He lives in Budapest with his wife Jane and their three children.
