Richard Melman, Channel Director
The History Channel, The History Channel HD,
The Biography Channel and the Crime & Investigation Network

Richard entered the TV industry as a Runner, moved into the camera department, became a Director, Producer, Head of Production, and finally a Broadcaster.

His time spent behind the camera, both as a cameraman and as a Director/Producer, provides broad expertise in the production of all areas of television—from commercials to music videos—and from drama to major documentaries, including the multi-award-winning 24-part Cold War series for Turner Broadcasting.

Since moving into Broadcasting, Richard has been instrumental in launching ten cable and satellite television channels—two in Latin America, two in Africa, one in Greece, one in the Middle East, one in Northern Europe, and three in the United Kingdom—all of which are currently on-air.

As a Broadcaster, Richard has worked for the BBC, Discovery, and Artsworld and is now the Channel Director for The History Channel (UK) and The Biography Channel (UK), The Crime & Investigation Network, The History Channel High Definition and The History Channel Africa, Greece, and Northern Europe.
