Ernie Cormier
Managing Director, Group Strategy & Corporate Development - Virgin Media
Ernie
Cormier is the Managing Director, Group Strategy & Corporate Development for Virgin Media, responsible for sales, marketing,
brand, product, content acquisition and related functions for the consumer
division of the company. Prior to holding this position, he was Senior Vice
President, Corporate Strategy at the company since joining in January, 2006.
Mr. Cormier brings more than 24 years of experience in a full range of functions
related to digital products, systems, and services in various media and platforms.
Prior to his position at Virgin Media, Mr. Cormier served as Vice President, Product
Management at Nextel Communications in the United States, focusing on convergence strategy
and solutions, business and in-building solutions, WLAN and related technologies, embedded
solutions, delivery platforms (current and next generation), and emerging opportunities.
This included development and marketing of product and service offerings, go-to-market
planning and execution, and related product management functions. Mr. Cormier was also
responsible for all business development and contract negotiations for Nextel's Products &
Services organization, as well as all partner and developer programs.
Before joining Nextel in September of 2001, Mr. Cormier served as Chief Technology
Officer and Executive Vice President of Marketing for TradeOut, Inc., an Internet-based,
business-to-business asset management marketplace providing public and private exchanges for
Fortune 1000 sellers and buyers.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Cormier started and/or managed several companies and divisions
providing content development and publishing, engineering, product development, and design
services in media and software. Additionally, he has fulfilled various roles in sales,
sales management, business development, product development, engineering, and marketing.
Mr. Cormier holds a BS degree in Controls Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic
Institute, and has completed certificate and related training at Georgetown and Harvard business schools.
